Glacier Tek - a Florida manufacturing company -- focuses on managing body temperature in extreme temperatures using high tech garments that help defend the wearer from heat stress.
Our first product, The Original Cool Vest was among the earliest completely self-contained body cooling devices available on the market, and is now sold in over dozen countries under numerous brand names.
Glacier Tek manufactures a selection of vests that feature PCM, or Phase Change Material Technology - a thermal energy storage material that is designed to absorb heat generated by the wearer. It maintains a comfortable 59 degrees - even in the most extreme heated environments - and never over cools. The Glacier Tek Cool Vest has a practical design and weighs about 4 pounds, and offers better comfort and cooling duration as that of ice and gel-cooled vests.

Our History
The company was founded in 1995 as a Florida Corporation by Steve Wuest and Ray Booska. The company mascot, an Emperor Penguin, is featured on all our literature and advertising and is the King of Cool. Our branding is oriented toward making Glacier Tek, Inc., creator of The Original Cool Vest, to be widely accepted as the King of Cool.
- 1995 - The company is founded, incorporated, and relocated from a garage into a real
manufacturing facility.
- 1997 - Glacier Tek, Inc. moves to West Melbourne to a larger building.
- 1998 - We expand and hire our first employees.
- 1999 - Glacier Tek establishes an e-commerce website, one of the earliest in the industry.
- 2000 - product line expands to include new models, including flame retardant Banox FR-3.
- 2001 - Additional factory machinery was added to bring all operations in-house.
- 2001 - We created military model products using mil-spec camouflage materials.
- 2002 - The URL www.coolvest.com was acquired to make it easier for customers to find us online.
- 2003 - We hired more customer service and sales people to meet growing demand.
- 2004 - Our manufacturing facility was expanded to 6,000 square feet.
- 2004 - Patent-pending status for RPCM™ Cool Vests and bladders using renewable PCM’s was awarded by the US Patent & Trademark Office and we became the only
phase change cooling product on the market containing no hazardous chemicals.
- 2005 - We introduced Cool Armor™, the first phase change cooling accessory designed specifically for wearers of
ballistic armor.
- 2005: ChillyDog™ , a new body cooling vest was developed for military and law enforcement
working dogs and Military War Dogs (MWD). We donated the first twenty units to our military K-9’s in Afghanistan and
Iraq.

Numerous other brands of phase change material cooling products are available on the market- all virtually identical in appearance, but they all use petroleum-based PCM technology. Glacier Tek offers RPCM®, the only environmentally responsible phase change technology product.
