Although the vest functions as advertised, I am concerned about wearing it in public. The University of Texas has two mid-day games in early September, which tend to be very hot. I plan to wear the vest to those games. However, when worn with the cooling bladders, the vest is indistinguishable from an explosive vest in appearance. When I have discussed this with law enforcement, they feel it would likely not be allowed at large public gatherings.
GLACIER TEK RESPONSE: Thanks for sharing your concern. Our products have been on the market since 1997. We know of no instances in which someone wearing a cooling vest has been denied entrance to a large public gathering. We contacted UT security personnel and confirmed that cooling vests are not among the items that fans are prohibited from bringing into Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. It's possible that individual law enforcement personnel might notice the vest and ask about its purpose. It might be useful to bring a Glacier Tek brochure to the event to help answer that question.
One other point: Our customer base includes many law enforcement personnel, so there's a good chance that the security folks you encounter at a large event in a hot climate would be familiar with the technology.
I was looking for something to keep me from overheating when I'm bike-riding. Works great.
So easy to charge up, we were at a theme park for 2 weeks and my husband was able to participate in everything without feeling overheated. He has MS and this allowed him to fully engage with his kids at Disney. Thanks for a great product!
The vest fits well and is cool (but not cold). The coolant works for a long time and is quick to refreeze.
The stitching along the edges of the vest is scratchy as are the edges of the Velcro pads.
The only way the vest could be concealable would be to leave the coolant pads out.
The cooling aspect of the cooling inserts is fantastic, but large -breasted women lose cooling function and may not be able to conceal the vest under clothes without looking like she is wearing a life vest.
This thing really keeps me cool. Yesterday i was cosplaying for 3 hours and before it was very uncomfortable, but since i have had the cooling vest,i have been able to fursuit longer then i usually do.
Seems good for when i go fursuiting at cons and meets and such. Cause i seem to overheat,it will probably keep me cool.
I'm a guy who sweats a lot in the summer time, especially when in dress clothes (i.e. suit, dress pants & shirt w/ ties, etc.). When my core temperature rises, my face and chest sweat profusely. Hot days get my dress shirt and undershirt soaked, and makes me feel disgusting and sick feeling. I purchased this cooling vest to try to alleviate that problem in certain situations. I specifically used this when helping to park cars in Pennsylvania in July, at a convention center. I wore it under a dress shirt and tie, over my under shirt. Due to condensation and heat transfer, my under shirt was wet after three hours of use. My dress shirts, however, was dry. It kept me cool and sweat free in 88 degree afternoon sun (including keeping my face from sweating). I did have to make sure to have a looser fitting dress shirts, especially since I used all four cooling packs in the vest. It was fairly comfortable when standing, I could not comfortably sit with the back cooling packs installed. Overall, I am very happy with the cooling vest. I used it three straight days in hot, semi humid weather, and it definitely helped keep me cooler and from any heat exhaustion.
the vest works for 3 to4 hours the effect is not shocking just slow cooling would recommend it for users that are acclimated to air conditioning
